In August 2026, the World Gold Council introduced its Gold Dealer Assurance Standard as a voluntary framework intended to improve trust and transparency in the retail and wholesale gold marketplace. The independent programme is operated by BSI, which controls assessment and trust-mark decisions.
What is being assessed?
The standard covers eight topics: fairness and integrity, transparency, customer-asset protection, regulatory compliance, responsible sourcing, commercial prudence, operational professionalism and, where applicable, vaulted gold products and services.
These are the kinds of safeguards a buyer should care about, particularly if a merchant offers storage or ongoing customer accounts rather than shipping a single coin.
Does every listed dealer have assurance?
No. GoldDealerGuide.com does not infer that a company has been assessed simply because it is established, has positive reviews or publishes good policies. A dealer should be treated as holding a programme mark only if its status appears in the official BSI-maintained directory or other authorized programme documentation.
Does assurance mean the price is best?
No. A programme can evaluate business practices without guaranteeing that every price, premium or buyback quote is favorable. Buyers still need to compare product specifications, spreads and contractual terms.
We will present confirmed assurance status with a source and verification date where evidence exists. We will not invent “verified” badges, suggest that the World Gold Council endorses this website, or publish protected programme marks without permission.
